Wheat futures at all-time high

Wheat futures on the NCDEX (National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange, India) have reached an all time high on wednesday of Rs 1,010 and traders appear to be backing soft commodities this year.

The Economic Times says -

If you bought wheat bags today, a closer look at December futures shows that the market would be willing to pay just a tad over your full carrying costs for the next nine months.

MCX Launches Cardamon Futures

Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. (MCX), India’s leading commodity exchange announced the launch of Cardamom futures. With this launch traders will be able to check prices at auction centres along with MCX prices and then decide where to sell.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Jignesh Shah, Managing Director and CEO, MCX said, ‘”Cardamom is one of the most exotic and highly prized spices of India. Major reforms have taken place in the commodity markets over the past few years and this launch will provide a reliable, transparent and efficient price risk management tool for cardamom growers, traders and exporters.”

CME to launch Snow Futures

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange has announced that it will be launching Snowfall Futures and options on futures to start trading on February the 26.

The CME says,

“The impact of weather can influence regional and local markets, playing a critical role in the overall economy,” said CME Managing Director of Products and Services Rick Redding. “Since 1999, CME has been offering temperature-based futures products to help market participants manage weather-related risks. Backed by CME Clearing, CME weather futures provide the safety and soundness investors are seeking to manage their weather-related risk.”

Fundamental analysis is a methodology for analysis of a company as a viable stock that you want to hold for long term. Fundamental analysis is more widespread in the world of investing since you are going to hold your companies for 10 to 20 years, you do not wish that your companies go bankrupt the next day. Some of the common ratios used are P/E ratios (price earnings ratios) which measures the relative price of the stock to the earnings of the company, the EPS (earnings per share), the debt equity ratio and tons of other ratios.
